Liv Lesson #1: Manifestation, The Foundation of Magick and Growth
Ya'll been hearing this word thrown around everywhere, right? Manifest money, manifest love, manifest happiness, etc. People say it's to make something come true. But, it's so much more complicated than that, and yet so simple to do. I'm gonna tell you what the hell manifestation is, how to do it, and give you some of my favorite techniques.
What is Manifestation?
Manifestation is the act of bringing what you desire into this reality/plane of existence. It seems easy enough. However, before you can start pulling things into this shared reality, you should know where you're pulling these things from.
Let's actually start by knowing the functions of the Universe. Although nowhere near knowing all of those functions, we have a general idea of what some of them are. Across cultures we have different terms for the things I'm about to say, and all of them are still debated and being researched into. Nonetheless, it provides a framework that we can utilize in our magick.
The Universe I present is one dependent on energy, science, and mysticism (aka the unexplainable.) I draw upon Ervin Laszlo's Science and the Akashic Field: An Integral Theory of Everything and Amber K's True Magick: A Beginner's Guide as the basis of my understanding for now.
From K, we understand the world around us to be filled with molecules, little balls of matter thrown around by energy, consistently moving, no matter how solid an object is. These molecules can be manipulated by our actions, ideas, and feelings. Now, we back this up with Laszlo's I-TOE, aka an Integral Theory of Everything. The problem with previous theories of everything is that they only account the quantum, the physical things that we can see or touch or observe in some form. Laszlo's theory, however, fits in an important and often ignored element: data. Data that is shared in DNA, in space and time, in the Universe and its weird rules that we have yet to fully grasp, simply because data has energy and energy can never be created or destroyed. So, we're working with data and energy that has been with us, used by us, influenced by us since the beginning of time.
Within that theory, data takes up space. Our thoughts, ideas, feelings--all bits of data-- affect the world around us. K describes data's effect on our world as "a butterfly effect." When we're manifesting, we're focusing our thoughts, ideas, feelings on the one goal, and our single thought molecule hits the rest of the molecules around us and an outcome is produced as a massive wave of molecules. This is a physical outcome of manifestation, the end goal of it all.
You can also think of the energy as attracting instead of propelling. You put out the energy of your desire and it'll attract the energy that produces that desire. Think of it like you're creating a specific gravitational pull with the weight of your intention, and thus the intention is pulled into your sphere because of the weight of your thoughts. Either way, your thoughts have weight and they affect the energy around you (ex. Power of Positive Thinking!)
How do we move/pull those molecules in our favor?
Now that we know a single thought can move or attract our desires to us, how can we amplify that thought to make it happen faster, bolder, more accurately to our liking?
We can strengthen the move/pull by raising our vibration. Because of all the molecules moving around in us and everything else, there are vibrations happening from those movements, meaning every thing in the Universe has a vibration. We associate positive elements with higher frequency vibrations (faster/tighter wavelengths) and negative elements with lower frequency vibrations (slower/wider wavelengths). I'm sure I'll do a post on that, but I'm not entirely versed in that concept yet so I'll get back to ya'll when I am.
(Funny story: Recently, my mom read a random article on high and low frequency vibrations one day. In the middle of me doing the dishes, my mom comes over, suddenly saying, "hey I just read an article and I think you vibrate at a low frequency." Bruh, I almost broke a cup. I had to check her and say that I work very hard to not consistently vibrate at a lower frequency and moments of emotional weakness do not indicate that our general energy is "at a low frequency." I also told her to be careful who she says that to, because thats a huge middle finger in the spiritual community. So, please don't do what she did. Keep yo vibrational observations to YA SELF.)
But, basically, you raise your vibration to the way it would be if you had that desire already fulfilled. All the methods of doing so start with basic meditation, in any form. Sitting peacefully, comfortably, and allowing all distractions, both external and internal, to dissipate and focusing on your intention deeply. I'll make a separate post about meditation another time, too.
The difference between simple meditation and other methods of manifestation is just what you're doing and what's around you during that meditative state. Spells are just giant movement and sound based meditations that involve objects associated with the desire and sometimes using the energy of a deity/spirit/guide/ancestor. Potions are the results of mixing meditation with cooking/brewing. So on and so fourth with the rest.
It ain't just happy thoughts, tho
Meditation, thoughts, ideas, aren't gonna bring your desire to you on their own. In order to allow the molecules or energy to move in your favor, your physical being has to move/act with them in unison. That means anything you want, you still gotta work for. What manifestation and spell work does, as explained by Amber K, is increase the chances of you gaining what you desire. So, instead of having all this random energy/molecules in the way that would make it harder for your desire to come through (1/10 chance of your outcome), manifestation clears the way (6/10 chance of your outcome). BUT! If you look at an empty path and don't decide to walk down it, you're not gonna get to what you want. It is your responsibility to push your physical body into the realm of opportunity, and with manifestation you won't have to work as hard or as miserably to do that. The work still needs to be done, though.
Common Manifestation Methods
Here is a list of some common manifestation methods. Feel free to add your own in the comments!
- Basic meditation
- Like explained above, you just wanna relax, be comfortable, and free your mind of all distractions, coming to a state of peace and able to feel your own vibration before focusing intently on your desire. What it feels like to have that desire fulfilled, how you'd act, how the people around you would act, how your life would change, almost like you're watching a movie of the future that you're creating. Feel the emotions, sensations, all of it when you're in that future time of prosperity. Do this multiple times within a week and you'd be surprised how quickly it'll come (with complimenting actions, of course.)
- Spell work
- You can call upon the Universe as an entity, or use your own pantheon of spirits and deities to do a big ole ritual with you. It's like putting on a show for the Universe so it'll pay you back! I'll be posting a basic spell format, as well as spells designed for specific purposes for you all to try, soon!
- Tea/Cooking Magick
- When stirring your tea or something else that you're cooking up, use ingredients that correspond with your intention. Meditate on it while you're cooking, from prep to serving. Each time you add a new ingredient, focus on how its properties are associated with or will help your desired intent. Another lil tip: if you want to bring something into your life, stir clockwise; if you want to push something out of your life, stir counterclockwise.
- Wear your desire
- You can wear colors and crystals associated with your intent. Want more money? Wear green or carry green aventurine around. Want to attract some love? Wear pink or carry a rose quartz. Rather some sex, instead? Wear red or carry a carnelian. Coordinate this with the intents of the days of the week, and you'll be a walking magnet!
What happens when I don't get what I want?
We all hate it when we put mad work into a spell or a manifestation method, just to not get what we had asked for. Theres a few reasons for this
- You got a selfish or ill intent. If you were wishing bad on somebody else, wishing to get what someone else had, wishing for someone to do something against their will (INCLUDING LOVING YOU), it's not gonna work, unless you have a massive amount of experience and energy. Even if the ill-intent happened, you end up getting messed up repercussions because if you put negative energy out there, it'll come to you just the same as positive energy. So, unless you prepared to deal with the backlash, try a more wholesome, loving intent.
- It manifested, but not in the way that you think. One major rule of the Universe I'm sure all of us understand is that there needs to be balance. That means what you asked for came in the form that the Universe feels is the most balanced and healthiest for you, even if it's a difficult endeavor. Every outcome comes with an important lesson, and the lesson in your goal for success is that you have to struggle first or get success in a way thats more fitting to you. Therefore, when you manifest, although you should be specific, be open to the way/forms the Universe brings that manifestation to you.
- It's just not meant for you, at least right now. Going along with the Universal balance theory, sometimes the things we ask for simply aren't meant for us. There are other paths we have to explore and either we were never meant to have it or we just weren't meant to have it now. Either way, don't beat yourself up about it. Look for a new focus when this happens and try again.
Spiritual Gaslighting
Something I've been noticing both in my magickal studies and in the spiritual community is the tendency to do spiritual gaslighting.
Going off the fact that we can attract negative energy to ourselves if we linger in it constantly, it doesn't mean all the terrible things that happen in our lives are because we called upon them. In fact, negative events happen when it's someone else's negative energy overtaking our own. People afraid of being robbed do not get robbed because they thought about it--they got robbed because someone else put their whole energy into robbing them. So, in the event of even bigger, more terrible crimes committed against us, do not try to use the Law of Attraction as a means to explain why it happened to you. You did not nor did anybody else ask for those things to happen.
A warning is, though, if you allow yourself to dwindle in the negative energy of your insecurities and doubts (constantly saying, "I hate myself," "I won't win," "I can't do this,") that can affect your life negatively. Your body and soul is like your child--if you keep telling it it's worthless, it'll believe so. If you neglect its health, it won't be able to function, and as a result you cannot get what you want, even if you want it so bad.
Manifestation comes with the trust and protection of your own energy. Only then can you truly bring your desires into this realm/plane of existence.
